What do you see in these pictures? A 3D shape facing which direction? A glass half full
or half empty? A vase or two faces? A person’s perception is based on their
preconceived ideas which can actually alter what they’re seeing. A person’s experience
of life is what actually creates their reality. A person’s mind can only recall information
that it has been previously exposed to. If an object is observed without any prior
experiences, the mind aligns with a memory it considers a best fit so it can recognize
the object. Therefore, the human mind is capable of adding and deleting information
about an object or situation as a result of trying to achieve a best fit. Ask someone to
get the salt and pepper from a kitchen cupboard; often they can’t see it, even though
it’s right in front of their nose. Oh, and one more fact, men are much more likely to
miss something that’s staring them in the face than women are!
Reality or Perception - What you see is actually there, right?

Maybe you’ve heard about the
5P’s: Preparation and Planning
Prevents Poor Performance.
It sounds pretty straightforward
but not when it comes to day to
day business activities. Many
companies spend hours fire
fighting to correct poor
performance rather than doing
preparation and planning to
prevent it. The reason for this is
a misunderstanding of the
difference between two words
reality and “perception”.
